The Heywood-Wakefield Vault
In 1897, two prominent furniture companies merged to create Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company. In 1921, the name was shortened to Heywood-Wakefield, the company you know today. As a brand that has been around for well over 100 years, Heywood-Wakefield has built a legacy with its handcrafted art deco-inspired mid-century modern furniture.
Heywood Wakefield Furniture
The company’s vintage pieces have always been in high demand. We have seen many antiquers seek out famous and rare collector items. Today’s Heywood-Wakefield is dedicated to preserving this legacy. We are doing so by creating new pieces that incorporate updated technology and contemporary tastes. It is our hope that this new approach will allow new generations to fall in love with a classic look from a classic company.
All our pieces are made with 100 percent Northern Yellow Birch just like in the past. However, with new technology, we can ensure there is more consistency and proper quality control than ever before. We use Milesi pre-catalyzed lacquer from Italy to provide that classic finish with a high level of protection. Not only is this finish beautiful, but it also ensures that
new pieces will complement our vintage furniture.
The Heywood-Wakefield Vault
Our customers frequently request that we bring back vintage styles that we do not make today. This is why we’ve created the vault, our concept for producing limited-edition pieces with new technology. Over the next few months, we will be opening the Heywood-Wakefield vault to produce a small batch of one of the rarest Heywood-Wakefield items. We will make this item available for pre-order soon and it will be available for purchase in the new year.
The Future
Looking toward the future, we hope to bring back even more items, but adapt them to life in the 21st century. We have already made some updates like producing beds that fit larger mattresses, adding extensions to our dining room tables, and developing wheel-chair accessible desks. We are excited to embark on this journey with the Heywood-Wakefield vault and hope you’ll come along for the ride!
